Halloween is coming soon!!

So, students talked about Halloween.

First, native speakers asked them about Halloween:

"When is Halloween?"    

"Where did Halloween start?"

"Have you ever gone Trick or Treating?"

then  students answered,

"It's October 30th?"   "October 31st!! "

"I don't know..."

"Yes!"  "No."

Then, teachers taught what Halloween was and students understood it deeply.

They tried to understand what English-speakers said and tell what students thought in English.

They were　still afraid of speaking English and looked nervous, but I hope they enjoy communicating in English.

もうすぐハロウィンです！！

そこで、今回のＢＥＣではハロウィンについて話すことになりました。

まず始めに、

「ハロウィンはいつか？」

「ハロウィンはどこが起源か？」

「『トリック　オア　トリート』をやってみたことがあるか？」など、ネイティブが質問しました。

それに対して生徒たちは
「１０月３０日？」「１０月３１日！！」

「分かりません」

「あります」「ないです」と、応答は様々。

そこから、ハロウィンとは何の行事なのかについて、ネイティブから学び理解を深めていきました。

生徒は、ネイティブが話していることを一生懸命聞き取ろうとし、英語で自分の意見を伝えようと頑張っていました。まだ、英語を話すのに緊張している様子ですが、これからの彼女たちの成長に期待が高まります！

BECについて

　Sanyo Girls' school started "Breakfast and English in Cafeteria (BEC)" this year.
　Junior high school students and high school students are able to participate in BEC.  Students talk with native speakers in English, eating breakfast in the cafeteria.  They can, of course, learn English, and how to communicate with people from foreign countries.  In addition, they can  know a lot of differences between foreign countries and Japan.  Then, they enjoy communicating with native speakers.

　本校では、今年度から"Breakfast and English in Cafeteria"、通称"BEC（ベック）"という早朝英会話という活動を行っています。

この早朝英会話は、中等部生・高等部生どちらも参加可能で、学校にあるカフェテリアで朝食を食べながら、ネイティブの先生と英会話をしようというものです。外国人との会話の仕方を学んだり、他国と日本との様々な違いを知りながら、ネイティブとの英会話を楽しみます。

    これから月一でBECの様子を紹介していきますので、どうぞお楽しみに！
